As a practice we are able to work with a wide consultant base as our drawings methods and systems are aligned to ensure that we can easily and consistently share and interrogate consultant's team's information throughout a project.
As a team and practice we have been involved in a number of the South West's most notable and prestigious commercial schemes. In recent years we have covered museum, regeneration, student accommodation, mixed use development and leisure & tourism functions. We also have an expansive back portfolio of educational buildings.
Most recently the team has been working with some to the region's main contractors and clients in the form of Mace, Midas and Somerset and Taunton council (SW&T) on two projects; 'The Depot' - a new build student accommodation scheme in the heart of Exeter and 'Coal Orchard' - a mixed use scheme forming the heart of SW&T Council's regeneration and investment project.
In these projects, OCR Architecture has acted as Design Manager and Technical Advisor, helping the contractor and client ensure successful delivery of a project.
In addition to offering this technical consultancy role, the team have designed and delivered projects for The Royal Horticultural Society at RHS Rosemoor , developing a multi-functional events building that was designed and delivered following a competition winning submission.
Our work at the University of Plymouth has formed part of the wider masterplan investment of the university and follows on from the team's involvement in delivering 'The Box' - Plymouth City Council's new museum and event space.
As a practice, OCR Architecture has a wide range of experience with projects that form a key part of the coastal economies in Devon and Cornwall.
The team have helped design and deliver projects for some of the country's most respected brands. We successfully obtained planning to help Highbullen Hotel & Country Club diversify away from an underused golf course into a country hotel that offers a range of lodges with a spa and conference spaces to help create a country retreat holiday destination. The mix of lodge types including tree houses and waterside lodges were cited to make the most of the landscape and views of the existing hotel. (Work completed whilst director at PMA Architects)
In addition to holiday accommodation, OCR Architecture have also supported one of the region's leading timber frame and lodge supplier Lodgico in the technical delivery of a multi unit staff accommodation block at Lynmouth holiday park. We also work with clients at the feasibility stage to evaluate the viability of sites to asses the uses and deliverability. This process has enabled the team to indulge their interests in water sports, climbing and camping to create master plans for new holiday parks in the south-west.
