Individual new build home in Budleigh Salterton

Modern crafted home in the heart of the Jurassic Coast

OCR architecture were pleased to be able to work with local developers S Cox and Co in creating a new family home in the heart of the village.

The new home is on the site of an old barn and is approached via a retained oak tree which characterises this area of the village and informs a key focal point from the living spaces of the house.

Budleigh Salterton house in garden 4

The house design has developed with a prominent tiered roof creating a striking silhouette of the property whilst also ensuring that the adjacent dwellings are not affected by the new scheme.

The inclusion of a wildflower sedum roof is a key request by the developer as part of their wider ambition to acknowledge the uniqueness of each site.

The house’s vaulted nature will enable a passive ventilation stack effect to be achieved through the double height entrance hall and into living areas through the high-level clear storey glazing. Realising a home on this limited site has resulted in a tiered garden that wraps around the house nestling the building into the landscape.

This house represents the third home in Budleigh Salterton that OCR Architecture has successfully achieved planning and seen through to fruition.
