OCRA were pleased to receive an inquiry from a London based family who were looking to re-locate to the west country after coming here for a number of years and renting holiday homes throughout the region.

The clients have been lucky to obtain an option on land near Putsborough and want to develop an architect designed luxury holiday home that takes all the best parts of the holiday homes they have stayed in over the years.

The brief to OCRA was to think big and design a family home where the clients can entertain their friends, whilst making the most of the fabulous coastal location. Our designs have developed through a number of iterations to help test the client’s brief, and to make sure that the designs respond to the site conditions.

The scheme is intentionally modern in its approach, with long flat roofs framing the panoramic views of the coast, wrapped around a private courtyard which creates a sheltered external area for when the winds pick up. The central courtyard ensures that the building can be flooded with light, and that the building can benefit from passive environmental benefits of natural ventilation to all areas.

 

The scheme is still in the early stages and we are excited about evolving the design with the client, but we hope to be able to develop the scheme soon.
